Peter Schinkai joined Conybeare Law Office as an Associate Attorney in 2024. Peter
graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in journalism, before
receiving his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University. While at Michigan State, Peter
earned his Indigenous Law Certificate for his work with the Native American community,
and was a member of the prestigious Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute.
Peter’s journey to law school, and into his life as a personal injury attorney, is based on
his own family experiences in the field. When Peter was just a child, his younger brother
died from medical negligence. Years later, his dad died in similar circumstances. In both
cases, Peter’s family was not properly represented, and they did not get the justice that
they deserved. Peter vowed to become a personal injury attorney so that other
individuals and families that faced these trying times would be better represented than
his own family was.
Prior to working at Conybeare, Peter worked with Michigan Indian Legal Services,
representing Native American clients with a variety of legal issues. He also was
employed at Rosette, LLP, working in the firm’s Education and Healthcare divisions,
assisting Native American tribes with opening and operating schools and hospitals.
Outside of work, Peter is married with one daughter. He is an avid sports fan and is a
high school lacrosse coach.
