On the afternoon of August 16, 2016, over 40 golfers took to the course at Point O’ Woods in Benton Harbor, Michigan for the annual Berrien County Bar Association Golf Outing. Conybeare Law Office sponsored the beverage cart, and our four-man team won the golf scramble with an -11 score. Proceeds from the golf outing were donated to help provide funding for technology development in the Legal Self-Help Center in the Berrien County Courthouse. Past Association President John Johnson was also thanksed for his service and presented with a plaque commemorating his leadership.
Later that evening, Association President Barry Conybeare presented Paul Taglia with the first Berrien County Bar Association Lifetime Achievement Award for his high standards of integrity, professionalism, and excellence over the course of his long legal career in our community. Carl Burdick, who nominated Paul for the award, and Arnie White both spoke of Paul’s legacy as a gifted and humble litigator. Carl read aloud letters from Congressmen and colleagues alike as a testament to Paul’s excellent reputation in the legal community. State Representative Al Pscholka also presented Paul with a Special Tribute from the State of Michigan signed by Mr. Pscholka, State Senator John Proos, Congressman Fred Upton, and Governor Rick Snyder. Conybeare Law Office congratulates Paul Taglia on this superior achievement.
In addition to the annual golf outing, the Berrien County Bar Association provides scholarships to Lake Michigan College students and supports legal education and awareness for high school students as part of Constitution day and by hosting an essay contest for Law Day. All of the attorneys at Conybeare Law Office are members of the Berrien County Bar Association.
