ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (Oct. 12, 2017) — Barry Conybeare announced today that Raymond “Ray” Steadmon recently joined Conybeare Law Office, P.C., headquartered in St. Joseph, Mich., as an associate attorney. Steadmon will base his personal injury and medical malpractice law practice at the firm’s new Kalamazoo office located at 5985 W. Main St.

After attending Mattawan High School, Steadmon earned his B.A. and B.S. degrees from Ferris State University in 2005. He earned his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and obtained his Illinois law license in 2009. He spent the first six years of his career working as a trial lawyer at a Chicago law firm handling personal injury and medical malpractice cases. In 2015, he and his family decided to move home to SW Michigan. He obtained his Michigan law license and joined a Detroit-based personal injury and medical malpractice law firm operating their Kalamazoo office where he worked until recently joining Conybeare Law. Steadmon is licensed and actively handles cases in Michigan and Illinois. Over the course of his career, he has helped recover millions of dollars in compensation for his clients.
In recognition of his professional and ethical conduct, this year Steadmon was named a Michigan “Super Lawyer Rising Star” and in each year from 2013-2016, he was named an Illinois “Super Lawyer Rising Star.” This honor is only given to the top 2.5% of all attorneys under the age of 40 years throughout each state. Also this year, The National Trial Lawyers, a professional invite-only organization comprised of each state’s top trial lawyers, listed Steadmon as one of Michigan’s top 40 attorneys under 40 years of age and, in 2016, one of Illinois’ top 40 attorneys under 40. Andin 2015 and 2016, he was selected as an "Illinois Emerging Lawyer" by the Leading Lawyers Network, and in 2015, he named as one of the Top 10 Personal Injury Attorneys Under 40 in Illinois by The National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys as well.
Steadmon was recently appointed to serve on the Executive Committee of Michigan Association for Justice. He has also started and served as the Chair of the Young Lawyer's Section of the International Society of Primerus Law Firms – a prestigious organization made up of over 3,000 attorneys in nearly 50 countries around the world. Steadmon has given numerous presentations on ending distracted driving and has written many articles for the legal profession.
He and his wife, Amber, and their daughter, Lilliana Ray, reside in Portage, Mich.
